Kindergarten and 1st grade - Dash and DotToday our first graders practiced teamwork by playing a game of Rosie the Dog. The children practiced working together as a team to give Rosie (our computer dog) directions to get from the fire hydrant to her dog house. We used directions like forward, backward, left and right to direct Rosie. Then we tried using those same directions as we worked with our teams to Drive Dash. We drove Dash around different geometric shapes. We drove dash to number cards. 2nd and 3rd graders - LEGO WeDo 2.0Today we worked on our sheet challenge. Then we finished building our pulling robot and moved on to creating and programming a racecar. 4th and 5th graders - VEX IQOur teambuilding activity was a review of what we did the last time with our drive bases. We shared what we learned about how to create a drive base that gives the best maneuverability. Then we looked at combining our gear simulator and our drive base and adding motors to create a chassis that would be the framework for our challenge robot. We used the animated instructions for building a standard drive base to create the beginning part of our robot. A couple groups finished the build and were able to test out controlling their robots with the controller.
